RADIOLOGY RESIDENCY – CLINICAL EXPERIENCE

Core Training

• Monthly Rotational training in X-ray, Ultrasound, CT and MRI

IN-PATIENT AND OUTPATIENT CARE

• Provided comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care in the Department of General Surgery, under the supervision of senior consultants and faculty.
• Conducted history taking, clinical examinations, and initial assessments for patients presenting with acute abdomen, hernias, breast lumps, thyroid disorders, varicose veins, ano-rectal conditions, and soft tissue infections.
• Managed pre-operative preparation (investigations, optimization, consent, antibiotics) and post-operative care (wound management, pain control, fluid/electrolyte balance, early detection of complications like wound infection, anastomotic leak, or sepsis).
• Made daily ward rounds, reviewed patient progress, interpreted investigations (X-rays, USG, CT, biochemical reports), and formulated/updated management plans in consultation with seniors.
• Maintained accurate, timely documentation — admission notes, daily progress notes, operation notes, discharge summaries, referral letters, and medico-legal records as per hospital protocols.

OPERATIVE ASSISTANCE

• Assisted in a wide range of surgical procedures in the operating theatre, including appendicectomies, open herniotomies/herniorrhaphies, cholecystectomies (laparoscopic assistance), exploratory laparotomies, abscess drainages, debridement, circumcision, and minor excisions/biopsies.
• Performed bedside procedures independently or under guidance, including suturing, wound dressings, incision & drainage of abscesses.
