Working as a Shift Lead, designated as Mainframe Data Center Operations Analyst for dedicated Banking Client UBS , supporting multiple geographical regions present across the globe.


Tools Used: TWS OPC, TSO, ISPF, SDSF, ServiceNow, Mainview, Splunk, Netcool , DWC (Dynamic Workload Console), BMC AMI OPS UI , HMC ,GDPS , DB2 , MQ , CICS .


Responsibilities:

• Monitoring Production and Test LPARs, providing Tier 1 and Tier 2 Hardware/Software support for the mainframe systems.

•Handling Daily Critical Batches and Responsible for Incident Management, Change Management and other related tasks.

•Handling requests such as Scheduling Applications/jobs, Restarting jobs, Creating/Deleting dependencies, Manual hold/release/mark completion on jobs/applications in CP in OPC.
• Performing health check of systems regularly and escalating in case of any irregularities.

• Performing special activities designed for the maintenance of the systems,Handling EoM/EoY task.
• Handling various alerts related to DB2, MQ, CICS, SPOOL, DASD, Hardware failure.
• Working on Job Abends by overriding the JCL, resolving contention issue, space issue. etc.
• Performing frequent Planned/Unplanned IPL's (Normal/Maint) Mode from HMC/GDPS (Automation), BCM(Failover/Fallback), Handling Incident Calls,
checkpoint calls, weekend activities and daily SOD call etc.

• Being a Shift Lead responsible for chairing the T/O call and ensuring quality of service is delivered on a day to day process, also along with this training the new joiners and making process ready

• Managed multiple projects simultaneously, delivering results within tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.

• Considering the potential I was been selected to sent Onshore to UBS Headquarters ' Zurich, Switzerland ' 2 times for a span of 3 Months each for a Special Mainframe Modernization Project and have came out with flying colors making the project a great success along with client appreciation.

• Suggested process automation initiatives, which reduced manual efforts required in day-to-day operations tasks significantly using RPA as Automation Tool.

• Identified inefficiencies in current systems, recommending adjustments that resulted in increased productivity levels.

  • AXA (Belgium and Germany) as client and responsible for :
  • Providing Mainframe support for Production, Development and Staging jobs (which are the primary aspects of banking Transactions and insurance applications) by handling abends effectively and in a timely manner by using tools such as: OPC,MQ Series, Silva, Omeagamon, HMC.
  • Immediate and appropriate action on WTORs and critical alerts on consoles.
  • Performing shutdown and IPL of LPARs – on request as well as part of weekend activities
  • Supporting release activities, which included monitoring and releasing of applications on request.
  • Handling requests such as planning applications, restarting jobs, deleting dependencies, manual hold/release/mark completion on jobs/applications JCL Modifications, Data set manipulations.

  • Handling queue failures by altering trigger depth parameters in error and datagram queue.
  • Reducing redundant abends by providing suggestions to application teams to provide permanent fixes.
  • Checking subsystems statuses on NETVIEW and taking action if in problem status by checking VOTE using INGLIST command and also starting/stopping subsystems on request.
  • Updating of process related documents to share with clients and team so as to maintain standard work procedure mainframe environment.

  • As a part of Automation initiative , AS400 jobs are run manually so It is hence an imperative to automate the batch runs as much feasible. Our client has chosen UiPath [Robotics Process Automation tool] to this automation.
