Summary

With over 25 years as a media professional and entrepreneur, I've navigated diverse roles spanning digital, television, and media technology. Beginning at STAR India, I collaborated closely with leadership on sales and marketing strategies for the STAR Network. This laid the foundation for pioneering ventures like NDTV Media Ltd., where I partnered with Mr. Raj Nayak to achieve significant growth, establishing the commercial arm of NDTV as a leader in the news genre.

Continuing this trajectory, I co-founded and led initiatives at AIDEM, developing an independent media services business and weathering entrepreneurial challenges to establish a technology-driven ad delivery service. A successful joint venture with IMD marked a pivotal moment, solidifying AIDEMs role as industry leaders in digital ad commercial delivery.

Subsequently, at Zirca Digital, I leveraged partnerships with global publishers to build a robust service platform, while my tenure at Republic provided another entrepreneurial opportunity. There, we launched and scaled a highly efficient news operation, achieving profitability and shareholder value in record time.

Launched Republic TV Network from a startup to a scaled news network with broadcast operations and digital business. The network launched as a leading news platform with English and digital platform. Motivated team, Impact sales and lean operations led to profitability within first year of operations. Early movers with video streaming across connected devices.

As co-founder of eSENDIT, we dominate the video ad delivery logistics sector with our cloud-based solutions, prioritizing rapid, high-quality distribution for major television advertisers.

At DistroScale, my focus on the FAST ecosystem drives innovation in AVOD streaming, connecting publishers and content owners with broader audiences via CTV and connected devices. This evolution supports targeted, programmatic advertising campaigns on large screens, enhancing engagement with brand-safe content partners.

Looking forward, I see the convergence of media platforms as pivotal, leveraging data and technology to optimize audience monetization. Programmatic solutions powered by AI and ML will further empower efficient, scalable media planning and execution.

  • Launched first live asset, Republic TV in May 2017, a 24x7 English News Content platform and Republic World our digital publishing business. Strategic market mapping, well planned distribution, high impact marketing and differentiated content strategy the broadcast business opened with a massive 52% Market share despite being the last entrant in the genre.
  • We generated 50% of the annual revenue by pre selling sponsorships and delivered an operationally profit business from the first month of operations. The channel continues to lead within the genre both on performance and commercial.
  • Expanded the footprint for our assets into UK, US, Middle East. and other south east asian markets.
  • Republic World our digital platform was launched with the lightest app news app with a size of 3.6 MB. We also launched the first progressive web app within news category in India.
  • Expanded our online LIVE TV footprint on every Smart phone, Smart TV by aggressively deploying our content on all telco, OEM and OTT platforms in the country and globally.
  • Launched Republic Bharat our Hindi News offering was launched within a hyper competitive market with a differentiated content and marketing strategy. The distribution efforts by the team and with a power packed content strategy paid off. The channel has moved up to number 3 position in a genre that has upwards of 14 competitors.
  • Lunched Republic Bangla, a Bengali news brand in FY 2020. The
    The channel was strategically marketed and distributed and is #2 channel in the genre.
  • Built a strong performance oriented team across functions who were self motivated which helped the organisation deliver the best performance on margins within the News category.
  • The valuation of the company moved up from 40 Mn pre money start up to 155 Mn USD. Played an integral part in raising capital for the company.

  • The NDTV role of leading the News network continued under Aidem while NDTV outsourced the commercial operation to Aidem. I chose to continue with Aidem when NDTV and the Founder of Aidem moved out. I got the opportunity to lead Aidem ventures as an entrepreneur with significant equity holding in 2011. We worked hard as a team to rebuild the business to create the largest independent Media Sales, solutions, online and media tech company. We created long term strategic partnerships and revenue opportunities across the spectrum. I got the opportunity of exploring and learning all platforms from Broadcasting with National and 15 plus regional channels, Cable / DTH advertising business, Online (MSN), Native Content (Outbrain), Online Radio (Radiowallah), On-ground Sponsorship (Badminton League), Ad Technology (eBus) and many more business. The learning with this journey was intense and extremely fulfilling. I got the opportunity to be in complete control with taking real time decisions. We built a very successful business model as the largest independent and transparent media monetization team in the country.
  • We also built the Ad Tech business of eBus in a JV with our partners in Singapore. We built the India business from scratch and were bought out by IMD (UK), thereafter the sales and operations mandate continued with Aidem.
  • We also created Zirca, a specialist within online monetization to focus on the tremendous growth within digital. The business represented Microsoft, Economist, Ad Math and others.

  • Started the journey as a first employee at NDTV Media, as NDTV moved from being a production house to a broadcaster. Played a critical role in setting up the operational, commercial and sales team. We started operation with NDTV 24x7 and NDTV India our English and Hindi News offering.
  • I started off within our NDTV 24x7 business leading the west market. We grew the business in double digits every year and got the opportunity to lead the business nationally in my 3rd year with the company.
  • The opportunities of learning and scaling up business on back of great relationship network and strategy paid off. I got the opportunity to lead the NDTV Network Sales and operations business starting 2009.
